UPSC prelim pattern

Ø  In the preliminary stage, 2 papers (papers 1 and 2) were conducted in a day.  

 

Paper 1

Ø  100 questions / 200 marks

Ø  2 Hours

Ø  Cut of existence

Ø  Negative marking (0.33)   

 

Paper 2 (CSAT)

Ø  80 questions / 200 Marks

Ø  2 Hours

Ø  Qualify nature (33% passing marks)

Ø  Negative marking (0.83)

Ø  Paper A (300 marks)

     (Select one of the Indian languages which is mentioned in the Eighth Schedule of the Indian Constitution) 

Ø  Paper B (300 Marks)

      (English)

Ø  Paper 1 (250 Marks)

       (Essay)

Ø  Paper 2 (250 Marks)

        (GS I – Indian heritage and culture, History and Geography of the world, and Society)

Ø  Paper 3 (250 Marks)

        (GS II – Governance, Constitution, Polity, Social justice and International relations)

Ø  Paper 4 (250 Marks)

        (GS III – Technology, Economic development, Biodiversity, Environment, Security and Disaster Management)

Ø  Paper 5 (250 Marks)

          (GS IV – Ethics, Integrity and Aptitude)

Ø  Paper 6 (250 Marks)

           (Optional subject – paper I)

Ø  Paper 7 (250 marks)

           (Optional subject – II)

 

·        Total = 1750 Marks (Excluded paper A, B. These two papers are qualifying)

·        Personality Test =275

·        New total 1750 + 275 = 2025
