divided into 5 sections
Section 1. Salient features of world`s physical geography
Section 2. Distribution of key natural resources across the world (including South Asia and the Indian sub-continent)
Section 3. Factors responsible for the location of primary, secondary, and tertiary sector industries in various parts of the world (including India).
Section 4. Important geophysical phenomena such as earthquakes, tsunami, volcanic activity, cyclone etc.
Section 5. Geographical features and their location changes in critical geographical features (including water-bodies and ice-caps) and in flora and fauna and the effects of such changes.
Discuss each section.
1. This section is widely covered in the
class 11 NCERT book “Fundamentals of Physical Geography”.
When you start the geography subject, start with this book. It is very useful
for concept clarity and covers most of this section. Also, some questions
directly come from this book in prelims.
2. This section focus on natural
resources. Natural resources are resources that come directly from nature. Like
soil, plants, fossil fuels, minerals, water, air, animals, etc.
And specifically mention
South Asia and the Indian sub-continent.

in South Asia are India, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Sri
Lanka, and Maldives.

3. Topics included in this section, are 3
types of industrial sectors.

The
primary sector works on natural raw materials. Like agriculture, forestry,
mining, and fishing.

secondary sector works on raw materials to make finished materials. Like the industrial
sector.
·
The
tertiary sector works on providing services. Like administrative, health care,
education, etc.
Focus on factors that help to develop
these sectors in a particular location. India is
specifically mentioned.
4. This section very clearly mentions.
Basic of these topics are covered in the NCERT Class 11 geography book “Fundamentals
of physical geography”.
5. This section includes geographical features such as mountains, lakes, rivers, deserts, icebergs, oceans, islands, mesas, marshes, etc. (specifically mention waterbodies and ice caps).
Also, focus on the effect of climate change on these geographical features and their flora and fauna.
